There was a popular Christian song out a few years ago entitled, "Is There a Cross in Your Life?" The song referred to a time in your life you had to overcome something BIG. We all have something in our lives we have to overcome. Some may refer to it as a stronghold. However you reference it, it is something in our lives we have to face and deal with, and overcome. As I was thinking about that just last week, I thought about Jesus.
We often think about Jesus as the Messiah, the Lord of Lords, and He certainly is that. But we forget that when Jesus walked the Earth, He was also a man. And as a man, He was tempted in the wilderness by Satan. He became angry in the Temple and He had to face THE CROSS. He was man in the Garden when He asked GOD to "let this cup pass from me."
In thinking about this, I thought, "Jesus had a cross He had to carry and overcome, and HE DID.." Then I thought, we all as humans have to sometimes carry a cross and in the end, overcome. As I was thinking about this, the thought came into my mind that it's not a fair comparison, because Jesus had the Father on His side. He could directly turn to the Father in Heaven.
And then it hit me.
So do we.
If we as Christians would turn to Him, instead of trying to carry things alone, we would have victory over the things in our lives that seem insurmountable. We have not, because we ask not. I can just imagine us trying to deal with things on our own and failing, all the while God is waiting for us to give it to Him.
I'm sure most of us in our lives have had to turn to a parent for help. That's what our Heavenly Father is. waiting on us to do: Just turn to Him.
