Would You Like to Teach or Serve in Kidz or Youth Ministry?

Working with teenagers and helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ can be exciting and rewarding.  If you are interested in helping with this great ministry, will you please consider the following:

Have you been a member of Southland Baptist Temple for more than 6 months?

We encourage everyone who joins the church to become a part of the local body by building relationships with believers in the church.  We encourage you to find a Sunday School class, help your children or family members get plugged-in, and focus on growing in your relationship with Jesus before looking for opportunities to serve.

Have you been faithfully attending our church and actively involved in Sunday School?

We can't pour our lives into others and help them grow if we ourselves are spiritually empty. We encourage you to faithfully attend a Sunday School class every week.  If you have recently graduated high school or are in college, show us your commitment by getting involved in the Sunday School class designed for you.

Have you recently completed the Youth Worker Certification Training?

If you want to serve/teach in any ministry at Southland involving children or teens, our church requires everyone to complete a 1 hour Youth Worker Certification Training.  This training will address safety, various areas of concern, and includes a background check.

Have you been out of high school for 2 years?

A youth Sunday School teacher or youth worker should be an adult who is older and more mature than the youth in our teen ministry. Youth workers and leaders can't effectively lead if they are buddies with or dating an individual in the youth ministry.

What are your spiritual gifts and is there currently a need for them in the youth ministry?

The term spiritual gift can be simply defined as "a God-given ability to serve the church effectively." Please complete the Spiritual Gifts Survey linked below, and then prayerfully consider how you can specifically use your gifts in the youth ministry.

Before committing yourself to the youth ministry, meet with the youth pastor or youth ministry leader, and discuss with them opportunities for leadership and service.
